Here’s a tip to better your chances of getting your own row of seats when traveling with a companion. On airplanes where there are rows with three seats, book yourselves in the widow and aisle seats leaving the middle seat empty. Since everyone hates the dreaded middle seat, there’s a chance that the middle seat between you and your companion will remain empty and you’ll get the whole row to yourselves. If, however, someone does have that middle seat, one of you can simply switch seats with the middle person. Now you and your companion can sit together and the person who originally had the middle seat will be glad they have an aisle or window seat now instead!
