Seeing Los Angeles Without A Car
Los Angeles is massive sprawling city with over 3 million residents, that number jumps to 10 million when you include all of Los Angeles county. Since LA is so spread out it is almost impossible to visit this city without a car, but almost does not mean it’s impossible. Here’s 5 ways to see Los Angeles without a car.
Lyft/Uber
These two ride sharing car services have made traveling throughout LA much much easier. If you don’t have a car, I highly suggest downloading either Uber or Lyft. Not only will you not have to worry about renting a car, but you won’t even have to worry about driving. Now, that’s what I call luxury.
Bus
The bus system in LA is nothing compared to those found in the east coast. You can’t expect to be able to get anywhere and everywhere taking the bus, but you can get pretty darn close. There are many lines that travel all around LA county, starting downtown and going out to Pasadena, West Hollywood, Inglewood and more. It only cost a maximum of $1.75, can’t really beat that.
Train
Just like the bus system, the train system is limited but it does work. There are six lines that stretch from Downtown L.A. to Hollywood, Pasadena and Culver City. It cost $1.75 to take the bus as well.
Bike
Many people use bicycles to travel around the city of Los Angeles. Some parts of the city can be a bit dangerous as bikes and cars share the same road. For $40 per day you can rent a two-wheeler from spots like Helen’s Cycles. If you’re traveling over 15 miles, you mind as well order an Uber or prepare to be a sweaty mess upon arriving at your location.
Motorcycle/Scooter
If bikes are too slow for you then maybe a motorcycle or scooter will tickle your fancy. Head on over to Route 66 Modern Classics on Lincoln Boulevard, scooter rentals start at $49 a day.
