Maunsell Army Sea Forts
These giant metal beasts were created in 1942 to stand guard on the Thames. Although they are not used in the same capacity as they used to, they still serve as a silent reminder of our past. Commissioned by the Ministry of Defense to stand against the German air raids, the Maunsell Army Sea Forts were originally placed into the Thames at three separate locations. However, only two are still standing: the Red Sands Fort and the Shivering Sands Fort.
