5 Helpful Tips to a Great In-Flight Nap

Sleep

Whether you’re a seasoned traveler or a flying novice, many passengers find it difficult to sleep on a plane. Unfortunately, on a 15 hour flight, that can prove to be a problem. So if you’re looking to catch some zzz’s during your next flight, try using these 5 helpful tips to a great in-flight nap.

1. It’s Important to Communicate

If you know you plan on sleeping during the flight, talk to your flight attendant ahead of time to inform them whether or not to wake you for food and drinks. Also make sure to talk to anyone sitting directly next to you; and ask them to either wake you up, or prevent the flight attendants from waking you.

2. Bring Your Own Pillow

It may seem crazy, but comfort is key to good sleep. If you don’t have one that you want to bring from home, go out and purchase one. Neck pillows, travel pillows, there are tons of pillow options to choose from. Plus not all airlines provide pillows and blankets anymore.

3. Wear Your Seatbelt

Wear your seatbelt so it can be seen. This includes going over the top of your blanket when you use one. Although seatbelts can restrict your movements, by buckling up you ensure the flight attendants will not disrupt you during their safety checks, such as when a seatbelt sign goes on.

4. Be Prepared

Eye masks, ear plugs, headphones; if you know you plan on sleeping, make sure to have the proper gear ahead of time. Eye masks are great to drown out light; and ear plugs and headphones help cancel out the other passengers.

5. Try to Get a Window Seat

Face it. Window seats are the best seating option while traveling. They allow you to lean against something without disrupting your neighbors.
